Athenian Agora Excavations.[\/caption]\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Adverbs<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Adverbs in Greek function much as they in English; namely, they&nbsp;provide additional information about a verb, adjective, or other adverb. Most often, they indicate manner, time, intensity, quantity, or place. In this lesson, we discuss&nbsp;adverbs that are formed from adjectives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Formation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most common ending for an adverb is \u2013<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u03c9\u03c2<\/span>.&nbsp;This ending corresponds almost exactly to the \u2013<em>ly<\/em> ending in English.&nbsp;Adverbs do not decline.<\/p>\n<p>To form this type of adverb, start with the GENITIVE PLURAL of the ADJECTIVE and substitute \u2013<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u03c2<\/span> for the final \u2013<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u03bd&nbsp;<\/span>(S 343). Most often, they indicate manner, time, intensity, quantity, or place.
