Verbs terminating with -<strong>r<\/strong>, -<strong>s<\/strong>, -<strong>z<\/strong> or <strong>nasal<\/strong> sounds suffer no change when the indirect object pronouns are attached to them (see Li\u00e7\u00e3o 8).<\/p>\n<p>The emphatic forms, as the name suggests, are used to give more emphasis to the indirect object pronoun.<\/p>\n<div class=\"textbox shaded\">\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Ele escreveu a carta <strong>a mim<\/strong> e n\u00e3o <strong>a voc\u00ea<\/strong>.<\/td>\n<td><em>[He wrote the letter <strong>to me<\/strong> and not <strong>to you<\/strong>.]<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Colloquial Brazilian Usage - Uso coloquial brasileiro<\/h3>\n<p>When both direct and indirect object pronouns should be present in a sentence, the direct object is omitted and the indirect emphatic form is used.
