This is the English version of Gustavo Bueno, ¿Qué es la ciencia? La respuesta de la Teoría del Cierre Categorial. Ciencia y Filosofía (Oviedo: Pentalfa, 1995). This publication partly summarizes Bueno’s theory of science as contained in the five volumes of the Teoría del Cierre Categorial. It has been translated by Brendan Burke and revised by Lino Camprubí thanks to a generous endowment made by Carmen Franco to Fundación Gustavo Bueno.
