– NOTE II –

The noble title was rehabilitated by King Alfonso XIII in 1916 in favor of Giuseppe Pignatelli Aragón Cortés y Fardella, XV Marquis of Valle de Oaxaca, who continued to reside with his family in Italy. In 1984, when his grand-son Giuseppe Pignatelli Aragón Cortés (1931-1984) died without descendants, this male branch of the Pignatelli Aragón Cortés was extinguished. The XV Marquis was also Prince of Noia, Duke of Monteleone and Newfoundland. Those titles passed to his cousin brother Nicolo Pignatelli Aragón Cortes (1923 – now). Simultaneously, the noble rights of the Marquisate passed to a lateral branch, that of the Spanish Jorge de Llanza and Albert de Bobadilla, who claimed them, to repatriate it. The Diputación de la Grandeza, a Spanish organization that manages the noble estate of the kingdom, ruled in its favor and once again the Marquisate of Valle de Oaxaca belongs to a Spanish family, which separated from the Pignatelli. Currently Álvaro de Llanza and Figueroa (1960), son of Jorge, holds the title of Marquis. He is married to Isabel López-Quesada Sanchiz, with whom he procreated his children Claudia, Álvaro and Isabel.
